Hey It’s Cinco de Mayo Weekend…and you’re ready than ever for some weekend fun. Well good, because there’s lots going on this weekend that’s gonna be fun. From the nation’s coolest beer events, to movies, music and cutting edge TV – we’ve got you covered. Plus we’ve another weekend beer pick for you, because we know you’ll be drinking.
Cinco De Micro (Salem, OR) – This being Cinco de Mayo weekend (yep it’s a weekend around the ACB compound), we’d recommend this three-day (May 4th-6th) beerganza for its clever name alone. Handcrafted Mexican lagers and spring seasonal offerings s will take center stage when the 6th annual Cinco De Micro Brewfest return to beautiful Salem, Oregon.
On The Big Screen – A much anticipate sequel to a surprise Marvel hit from 2014, debuts this weekend and given that the first was so much fun, we’ve already purchased our tickets. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 returns the ensemble cast of misfit and bickering space adventurers, as they assist Peter Quinn (Chris Pratt) on his cosmic journey to fight planetary villains and learn more about his true parentage.
Spring Drinking in The Gateway City (Saint Louis, MO) – The 2017 St. Louis Microfest returns to St Louis’ Forest Park this weekend and it’s always a great time! 2017’s two-day (May 5th–6th), three-session throwdown will feature brilliant beer from the region’s most exciting craft brewers (and international offerings as well). Plus there will be music, lots of artisan foods, brewer demonstrations, and all kinds of cool stuff going on, so you don’t want to miss it!
TV Time & Streaming – If you’ve not yet caught up with HBO’s Veep or Silicon Valley you’re totally blowing it and we’re pissed at you! Now in its sixth season, Veep stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Selina Meyer a one-time Vice President who is, at least for now, finds herself hysterically out of office. And Silicon Valley continues to lampoon America’s competitive technocracy and focuses on a hilarious group of nerds struggling to build a startup in an insanely competitive environment.
ACB WEEKEND BEER PICK
In anticipation of this weekend’s Cinco de Mayo celebrations we’re gonna be tapping a big limited release from The Bruery that takes its lead from horchata, a traditional, sweet, milky drink that originated in Spain and Latin America. The Bruery’s Or Xata is an exotic 7.2% Blonde Ale that’s brewed with a heavy dosing of rice, cinnamon and fresh vanilla beans to mimic the beloved Central American drink.
