The Burning Man Festival 2018 (Black Rock Desert, NV) – Every year, as many as 70,000 artist, hippies and slumming yuppies gather in the Nevada desert to erect a vivid temporary city devoted to art, community & 10 guiding principles including “radical self-expression…They also consume massive quantities of drugs. Described as a festival that for some has become a lifestyle, the surreal and psychedelic outing kicks off this Saturday August 25th and ends with the almost orgasmic burning of “the man” (a huge wooden effigy that looms over the temporary desert city) on September 3rd.
A Safe Haven For Serious Beer (New Haven, CT) – Now in its second year, the New Haven Craft Beer Fest, the city’s first ever outdoor craft beer festival, returns to downtown New Haven this Saturday, August 25th. The event will feature unique and limited offerings from the region’s best breweries tucked away in an intimate urban setting.
On The Big Screen – This weekend’s biggest movie opening is a remake of a Steve McQueen classic from 1973. Papillion stars Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) who steps into the McQueen role in the remake. And Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) takes on Dustin Hoffman’s original character in the brutal epic of two unjustly sentenced prisoners determined to escape a dehumanizing island jail in colonial French Guiana.
.Mountain Drinking (Palmerton, PA) – The Beer Fest at Blue Mountain Resort returns to the Pocono Mountains this weekend for two days (August 24th-25th) of non-stop music, artisan foods and SERIOUS beer.
