AMERICAN CRAFT BEER’S ‘AUGUST ALREADY’ WEEKEND PICKS

beer, AMERICAN CRAFT BEER’S ‘AUGUST ALREADY’ WEEKEND PICKSJuly’s given way to August’s heat…and you’re desperate for some fun. Well good, because we’ve got your back. From the nation’s coolest beer events, to movies, music and cutting edge TV – we’ve got you covered.  Plus we’ve a special summertime weekend beer pick for you, because we know you’ll be drinking.

London Calling (United Kingdom) -The London Craft Beer Festival will be celebrating its 5th anniversary this weekend and changing things up this time around to better accommodate their  growing community of passionate fans. This year’s three-day beerganza (April 4th-6th) has necessarily moved to a new location –  the spacious Shoreditch Electric Light Station, a beautifully converted old power station, which is also home to the UK’s leading circus school. In addition to bringing together London’s finest brewers, this year’s festival will be showcasing some Scandinavia’s most exciting breweries and adding some big American names into the mix.

On The Big Screen – This weekend’s big movie opening is The Dark Tower a filmed distillation of a series of eight books by Stephen King that span multiple genres, including dark fantasy, science fantasy, horror, and even the American western. Idris Elba stars as a mythical gunslinger locked in an eternal battle with an evil overlord (Matthew McCaughey) who controls a universe of alternative worlds. Could be brilliant but also might suck.

beer, AMERICAN CRAFT BEER’S ‘AUGUST ALREADY’ WEEKEND PICKSDon’t Be Left Short (Elk Rapids, MI) – This Saturday, August 5th Short’s Brewing will be hosting their annual Short’s Fest 2107 an audacious evening of Short’s Brews, live music, scrumptious local foods, and hundreds of your closest beer friends. With SPECIAL performances by The Go Rounds, and Joe Hertler & the Rainbow Seekers (and a specialty bottle release), this is one Upper Michigan extravaganza that shouldn’t be missed.

 THE ACB WEEKEND BEER PICK

We’ll be celebrating July’s passing this weekend with an award-winning beer from MOA Brewing that we picked up on our recent junket to New Zealand. Named after a California valley that’s famous for skydiving, MOA Perris Sky Juice is 7.2% ABV American West Coast-style IPA that’s pumped out of its mind on Columbus, Citra, Simcoe and Amarillo hops.
