Snallygaster 2016 (Washington, DC) – One of the perks of working at ACB is that we get to attend some great beer festivals – and one of our favorites is returning to DC this Saturday, September, 17th. Now in its fifth year, Snallygaster is a celebration of serious beer. And if you’ve never attended this amazing event – you need to. As always, all the beers being poured this weekend have been curated by Greg Engert, the Beer Director for the Neighborhood Restaurant Group and the dude’s a true beer genius. This year, Greg’s assembled a beasty 350+ beers – and they’re the kinds of beers that you only see at the most acclaimed craft beer events like the Firestone Walker Invitational.
On The Big Screen – You know you’re heading into another questionable weekend at the movies when the only film you feel like recommending is a sequel to a horror flick the came out over seventeen years ago. Billed as the direct follow-up to the classic (there was another sequel several years back that everyone promptly disavowed) this Blair Witch returns with the original co-creators Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez fully behind it. Will it duplicate the success of the Blair Witch Project? Probably not…but it still looks like a lot more fun than Bridget Jones’s Baby.
The Mother Of All Oktoberfest Celebrations (Munich, Germany) – We’re heading into Oktoberfest season soon here in the states. But the festival that started it all is kicking off this weekend over in Germany. The 183rd Oktoberfest kicks off
its almost two week of drinking madness and festivities this Saturday, September, 17th, This is the largest and definitely the most renowned Oktoberfest celebration on the face of the planet – and it’s a life-changing throwdown and not to be missed. TV Time – Netflix recently returned its popular cocaine epic for its second and, we think, final season. Based on the real life exploits of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar – Narcos is a potentially addictive and binge-worthy television which, while not without some narrative flaws, is still sexy and ambitious and well worth your time.
OUR WEEKEND BEER PICK
Fall is coming and we’ll be celebrating this weekend with festival beer that we recently received from Lagunitas Brewing. Part of the brewery’s One Hitter Series, Lagunitas Tuberfest is 7.5% ABV Märzen hybrid that’s basically a smooth and malty lager that’s hopped-up out of its mind on Pacific Northwestern Idaho hops.
