Finally the weekend has arrived…and you’re super ready for the fun. Well good, because we’ve some ideas for you. From the nation’s coolest beer events, to movies, music and cutting edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time. Plus we’ve another weekend beer suggestion for you as well, because we know you’ll be drinking.
London Calling (UK) – Our friends at CAMRA are throwing a huge three-day beerganza (March 8th through 10th and it’s still going on! The 2017 London Drinker Beer & Cider Festival is one of the city’s longest running beer festivals and it’s without a doubt one of its most fun!
On The Big Screen – It seems like every decade, there’s another King Kong remake, and the latest iteration debuts this weekend. Kong: Skull Island stars Tom Huddleston (who we like), Samuel L Jackson (who we’re tired of), Brie Larson (who can be good) and King Kong (who’s always impressive).
A Capital Time (Sacramento, CA) – If you thought that by Sunday, you’d be done drinking – think again – because things will just be getting started at California’s seventh annual Capital Beer Fest. This year’s afternoon throwdown will feature more than 300 beers from over 125 of the region’s best breweries, so you should have enough drink.
TV Time & Streaming – Netflix is our go-to when it comes to discovering new and exciting programming and we almost missed something cool that actually debuted early last year. Created by Australian film director Baz Luhrmann, and set in the Bronx in the 1970’s, The Get Down chronicles the rise of hip-hop and the demise of disco music as seen through the eyes of a group of Puerto Rican and black NYC teenagers who are making it all happen.
On The Beach (Kona, HI) – The 22nd annual Kona Brewers Festival returns to Hawaii’s Kona Beach Hotel this Saturday (March 11th) and we can’t think of better place for enjoying serious beer. This year’s two session beachside event will feature specially crafted beer from almost 40 of the nation’s most exciting breweries as well as live music and artisan eats. And did we mention it’s on the beach?
THE ACB WEEKEND BEER PICK
We’ll be hitting up a new One Hitter Series release from Lagunitas that should pair well with this weekend’s early spring cooling temperatures. Davey Murray’s Best Scotch Ale is a peaty 9.5% ABV strong ale that’s sweet and warming, but never cloying.
