Ninkasi Gives Sleigh’r A Brand New Look (Eugene, OR) – Following previous rebranding efforts announced earlier this year, Ninkasi Brewing recently unveiled a new look for their popular winter seasonal with an eye to outdoor enthusiasts. Acording to CoFounder Jamie Floyd, the new artwork, which features a sled tearing through the snow, was inspired by his love of snowboarding and winter in the Pacific Northwest. This year’s Sleigh’r, their massive take on the German Altbier style, is scheduled to ship mid-September.

May We See Your Papers? (Birmingham, AL) – In an effort to modify whatcan only be seen as an almost totalitarian governmental overreach in Alabama, the state’s Beverage Control Board is reportedly expected to “change a proposed requirement that breweries and brew pubs record the names and other personal information of customer who buy beer to take home.”

Words to Drink By: “Anybody who tells you to have a fall back plan are people who had a fallback plan… They didn’t follow their dreams, and don’t want you to either.”

Malia Obama Caught Playing Beer Pong? (Washington, DC) – Never mind the snapchat photos showing the first daughter hitting a joint at a rock festival in Chicago (who hasn’t done that?). And the rumors of underage drinking… we’d be concerned if she wasn’t. It’s this reported beer pong incident that we can’t excuse – because there is absolutely no excuse for beer pong!

What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all the breweries who ship us beer from time to time. It’s always great to sample the brews that we write about and helps give us a better feel for what’s happening out there. And last night we hit up a new fall seasonal that we recently received from the small batch division of Genesee Brewing. Deep copper in color, Genesee Brew House Pilot Batch Altbier is an adventurous 5.5% ABV “Dusseldorf” take on the proud German tradition. Prost!
