Today is Black Friday, what was once the biggest shopping day of the year (and maybe still is…were not sure). But it’s remains a crazy day at the malls and we’ve our own alternative to that madness. Today we’re intoducing a new holiday tradition. We’re bringing in “Black Beer “Friday!
Black Beer Friday is also an alternative to the whole corporate Black Friday beer promotions which have grown tired and predictable of late…
It’s a call to our darker drinking instincts…It’s a “bet on black,” no matter the style.
The good news is that you can celebrate Black Beer Friday anywhere, but we do have some suggestions…
It’s imperative that you choose a location as far as humanly possible from a shopping mall. A windowless cellar-like bar or brewpub is highly recommended (as long they’ve something brilliant and pitch black on tap).
We also like backyard fire pits as long they’re more than mile away from any major shopping area. Black Friday drivers can be an irritable breed prone to honking their car’s horns as a way of announcing their anguish to the world – and no drinker needs that.
When it comes to the perfect beer for today we’re pretty open as long as they’re malt-forward roasted black beauties.
Porters and Stouts are obvious moves, but a dazzling Black IPA is also permissible (as long as it’s impossible to see light though it).
Coal black Belgians are welcome… Oak barreled brews are also a smart way to go, especially if they’ve been aging for like a hundred years and pour black as night.
Black Forest Lagers are always a great opener, particularly when you start celebrating right after breakfast as we do.
No matter which dark beer you choose, it’s just important that you’re engaged, committed to drinking a good part of the day, and part of the celebration….
Black Beer Friday is America’s newest (and we think, most important) holiday tradition and the perfect antidote to seasonal mall rage.
