Although the Almanac Beer Co. has long called the San Francisco’s Bay Area their home, they’ve never really had a brewery that they could call their own until now.

You see Damian Fagan and Jesse Friedman who founded their “farm to barrel” brewery back in 2010 were ‘contract brewers.’ They contracted out their beers to other established breweries rather than incur the startup expense associated with launching their own facility.

But all that’s changed with the opening of Almanac Beer’s new 30,000 square foot production brewery and taproom in Alameda. Which just happens to be neighbors with a new craft malthouse, Admiral Maltings that also has its own taproom.

Almanac’s new outlet is a game changer for Damian and Jesse…

According to SFeater Almanac’s new space (housed in what was once and old naval hanger) has a state-of-the-art 20 BBL brewing system, 500 foudres for aging and 2,500 square feet of cold storage to help fuel the brewery’s existing Mission District taproom, as well as its sizable 28 state distribution footprint.

And with their 2000 square foot taproom and outdoor beer garden now open, they can share their trademark sours and IPAs at their source, in an artisan setting that truly compliments what they do.

Almanac’s new operation will also allow them to quadruple their overall production capability, which means more barrel-aged exotics, locally sourced sours, and limited editions available than ever before…And how can that not be a good thing?
