AB InBev Buys Israeli Beer Tech Startup

InBev, AB InBev Buys Israeli Beer Tech StartupLooks like the world’s largest beer company Anheuser-Busch InBev is getting into tech, and beer analytics in particular.

At the end of January, AB InBev announced to Calcalist, that they had acquired Tel Aviv-based WeissBeerger, a beverage consumption analytics startup, which aims to be the ‘Google Analytics of beer.’

According to Isreal21c , Weissbeerger’s flagship product, Alcohol Analytics, is designed “to track how much beer is being consumed in a bar, at what times, and which brands are the most popular,” via monitored beer taps that work in conjunction with the point-of-sale system (read: the cash register).

Alcohol Analytics hopes to provide a transparency to the draft beer on-premise process that’s been lacking.

And it reportedly allows users to track the exact draft beer flow and compare that info with the money collected, which not only reduces waste but also minimize the amount of  “freebies” that bartenders share with friends at the same time.

InBev, AB InBev Buys Israeli Beer Tech StartupAs is usual with these kinds of acquisition deals, financial terms weren’t disclosed but, according to two people familiar with the deal who spoke to CTech on condition of anonymity, it’s estimated at tens of millions of dollars

The Israeli technology news site projects that the newly acquired WeissBeerger will “become AB InBev’s research and development center in Israel.”
