The holidays are here… and we’ve all the right beers for this time of year. Plus we’ve a special barrel-aged seasonal from Wild Heaven that you’ll absolutely want to get your sweaty little hands on.
Snow & Tell (Kansas City, MO) – Boulevard Brewing’s Christmas offering had us at its name. Taking its lead from the traditional scotch ale and downscaling things in favor of drinkability, Boulevard Snow & Tell (great name!), is a 6.3% hybrid ale that’s refreshing in its deliberate exclusion of the usual holiday spices.
Feliz Navidad Cerveza (Escondido, CA) – With the holidays just around the Stone recently returned an 8.1% ABV winter seasonal that ingeniously reconstructs the traditional “Mexican hot chocolate.” Stone Xocoveza is a rich Mocha Stout that’s holiday-fueled on a complex menu of cocoa, coffee, pasilla peppers, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Naughty And Nice (San Marcos, CA) – Port Brewing’s Christmas release is “so” not the obvious over-spiced winter warmer and maybe that’s why it’s so popular. Beloved for almost a decade, Santa’s Little Helper is a massive 10% ABV rich dark Imperial Stout with nice warming finish for those cold winter nights.
Heavenly (Avondale Estates, GA) – Wild Heaven Craft Beer offers a special holiday release that starts with their year-round coffee brown ale, Ode to Mercy and barrel-ages things up. Subtly wood and vanilla tones brilliantly offset the beer’s characteristic coffee notes in Wild Heaven’s 8.2% Ode to Mercy Special Winter Ale.
Time For Jubilation (Boulder, Co) – Avery’s Christmas offering is all about the distinctive interplay of the five unique malts that it’s brewed with. Avery Old Jubilation is a traditional 8.3% ABV European-style Strong Ale that the brewery proudly claims uses the specially curated blend of malts to do the spicing for them.
