beer, 5 Big New Beers For National Beer Day

April 7th is National Beer Day, a marketing opportunity for some, a timely drinking celebration for others. And with that in mind we’ve some exciting and über-hefty new releases that you might want to have on hand.

Their New Kentucky Home (Covington, KY) – Braxton Brewing Company is celebrating the upcoming horse racing season with a special barrel-aged limited edition that debuts today. Described as a mint julep style beer, the 2018 Braxton Kentucky Home is actually a 9.5% ABV Strong Golden Ale that was aged in Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels, then topped off with fresh mint. Yessssssssssss!

Maiden Voyage (Fort Lauderdale, FL) – This weekend LauderAle Brewery and Taproom will be releasing the first from their Shipwreck Series. Named after a cargo steamer that was carrying coal from Philadelphia to Havana and slammed into a reef near Pompano Beach, Florida, on May 26th, 1900, LauderAle S.S. Copenhagen is a barrel-aged version of their Rapture of the Deep, an aggressive and bold Russian Imperial Stout with huge notes of bitter chocolate and roasted coffee.

Voodoo You You (Ft Collins, CO)-  New Belgium Brewing has a new Voodoo Ranger Series summer release that doubles down on the Pacific Northwest tradition of brewing with spruce tips and takes it in a surprisingly tropical direction. New Belgium Voodoo Ranger Guava Spruce DIPA is a 7.6% ABV Double IPA that intriguingly introduces Guava flavors into the mix!

Dank, sticky and slightly sweet, Founders Dankwood is a 12.2% ABV oak barrel-aged Red IPA that the brewery thinks is “the perfect alchemy of wood and hops.”

Not Lying (Spoken, WA) – No-Li Brewhouse has just released a barrel-aged take on their popular Born & Raised IPA. The Spokane-based brewery’s sixth barrel-aged bottle release thus far in 2018.

Born & Raised Again was aged to perfection in a wheat whiskey barrel from Dry Fly Distillery for more than two years! Available only at the No-Li pub, this über-limited release will not be sold in stores – so you know what to do.
