In spite of recent declines in the states as well as in Europe, beer remains the most popular alcoholic beverage in the world. But according to an annual study, some countries love it more than others.

Kirin Holdings Company publishes an annual report which captures beer consumption stats from 170 countries and ranks just how much beer the world’s leading counties are drinking. And even if the data, which they published in December of 2023 reflects the prior year, it still points to how well beer is faring coming out of the Covid-19 lockdowns.
By region, Asia consumption was up 4.9% year-on-year and holds a 33.9% share of the global beer market, remaining the world’s largest beer-consuming region for the 15th consecutive year. the United States, Germany, UK and Japan all showed negative growth over the same period.
China was the largest beer-consuming country in the world, for the 20th year in a row, according to VinePair consuming 11.1 billion gallons of beer in 2022, almost 22 percent of the world’s market share and more than double the consumption of the US, which came in at #2.
Brazil drinks the third most beer in the world, an impressive 3.9 million gallons, followed by Mexico (2.6 million gallons), and Russia with 8.5 million kiloliters (2.2 million gallons).
