, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – May 30, 2014Big Doings in Beantown (Boston, MA) – The Bros & Harpoon Brewery are presenting the 7th annual American Craft Beer Fest this weekend and it’s billed as the East Coast’s largest celebration of American craft. This year’s event is once again taking place at Boston’s Seaport World Trade Center and is featuring some 640+ craft beers from 140 of the nation’s best breweries. This is an enormous two-day event, drawing more than 15,000 beer enthusiasts from around the world, and although both of Saturday’s sessions have sold out, we understand that tickets are still available for tonight’s (Friday, May 30th from 6-9:30 pm) session. , The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – May 30, 2014On The Big Screen – Angelina Jolie returns to the big screen this weekend in a Walt Disney fantasy that’s been generating considerable buzz.Maleficent tells the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty” and explores the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Elle Fanning, Imelda Staunton, and Sharlto Copley all serve to round out a seasoned cast in this modern retelling of the classic fairy tale.

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – May 30, 2014Here’s to Belgian Beers (Portland, OR) – One of this weekend’s best beer events will happen in one of Americas best beer cities, when the 2014 Cheers to Belgian Beers returns (for the 8th straight year) to Portland. When Cheers to Belgian Beers started in 2007, its mission was to help introduce Oregonians to the breadth of style and flavors of beers brewed in Belgium. Since 2008, Oregon brewers have won medals in the Belgian-Style or Sour Ale categories every year at the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup (that’s seven years in a row for those who are counting). The 2014 Cheers to Belgian Beers currently features 56 beers from 50 brewing companies, with more beers expected to be added by the day of the festival. TV Time – The truth is there are so many promising long-form dramas on television nowadays that it’s getting harder to find time for everything. And one new show that you need to work into your already crowded viewing schedule (which should already include Game of Thrones and The Americans) is Fargo on the FX network. Fargo is a dark comedy-crime television series created by Noah Hawley that is loosely based on the 1996 Coen brothers film of the same name. Billy Bob Thornton is brilliant as the sociopathic drifter who wreaks havoc on the frozen far-north prairie town of Bemidji, Minnesota, when he befriends a meek insurance salesman played by Martin Freeman. Make time for Fargo – it’s funny, dark, and worth it.
