Going into the 4th of July, a prime time for serious craft beer drinking, the Brewers Association is inviting everyone to run their ass off.

Here’s the deal…

Beer and running (like beer and music) has long been a thing. Many craft breweries host their own “beer runs,” but in 2019, America’s most influential not-for-profit craft beer organization took that concept national.

On July 3rd, ahead of summer’s biggest holiday, Independence Day, the Boulder, Colorado-based Brewers Association (BA) is returning the  now third annual National Independent Beer Run Day, and inviting the nation’s craft brewers to sponsor beer runs in their own backyards.

, Brewers Association Returns National Independent Beer Run Day On July 3One of the three Brewers Association-designated craft beer holidays, which also includes American Craft Beer Week (May 10-16) and Small Brewery Sunday (Nov 28), National Independent Beer Run Day encourages beer lovers across America to support small and independent breweries even if you choose not to run.

And after the year from hell (thanks again COVID-19) and the country opening up again, stocking up on craft beer in anticipation of Independence Day celebrations will help fuel craft breweries at a time when everybody needs it the most.

The July 3rd run date is hardly a suprise either….The week leading up to Independence Day is historically among the largest sales periods for craft beer.

According to IRI scan data, it has been the highest single sales week of the year for the last five years, with sales by volume an estimated 34% higher than a typical week.

And given that drinking beer crafted by an independent breweries is important to 58% of craft drinkers and an estimated 60 million adult Americans, the timing for a “beer run” to your local brewery taproom or retailer, as well as for the National Independent Beer Run Day, could not be better.

To help breweries who want to participate, the Brewers Association is providing a rich media toolkit  with everything from animated social media posts and GIF stickers, to posters and logo designs.

The craft beer and running shoes…that’s gonna be up to you.
