Fall has arrived (and winter will be here sooner than you think) – and we’ve all the right beers for the season. Plus we’ve some interesting new offerings from Green Flash and Victory Brewing that you’ll want to get your sweaty little hands on.
A Meta Mates (Asheville, NC) – Wicked Weed is debuting a transatlantic collaboration that they did with an exciting Switzerland-based brewery, Trois Dames, which uses a medley of fruit in an unlikely play to recreate the hop notes. Wicked Weed Metatropics is a 6.2% ABV Wild Ale brewed with pineapple, passionfruit, mango and grapefruit (to emulate the tropical hop flavors) and Brettanomyces yeast to keep things wild.
Celestial Siblings (Downingtown, PA) – Victory Brewing has released a cosmic companion to their celebrated Helios Ale that takes its name from Greek goddess of the moon Selene. Described as a Saison brewed for delicious darkness, Victory Selene Saison is a 7.5% ABV a wild-fermented Belgian-style Farmhouse Ale with a rich roasty blend of flavors and a smart East Kent Goldings hop finish.
Brazenly Bronzed (Seattle, WA) – Redhook Brewery is celebrating the upcoming winter season with the release of an award-winner that took home a bronze from the 2012 Great American Beer Festival. Brewed annually since 1984 Redhook Winterhook is an ever-evolving one-of-a-kind winter seasonal. This year’s 6% ABV version has a hoppier edge that’s tempered by a sturdy Munich malt backbone.
Return of The Pumpkinator (Houston, TX) – Respect! Saint Arnold brewing has just returned an uber-popular annual that unlike most of these pumpkin offerings is released in October, as opposed to July. Already a World Beer Cup Silver Medal winner, Saint Arnold Pumpkinator is a MASSIVE 11% ABV Imperial Stout brewed with 1,500 pounds of roasted fresh pumpkin, that’s right on time.
Soul Full (San Diego, CA) – Green Flash is a brewery that’s known for brewing huge IPAs – doubles, triples, the bigger the better. So much so that they also brew beer that’s excellence is defined by its relative moderation. Green Flash Soul Style IPA is the perfect example – a 6.5% ABV celebration of Simcoe, Citra and Cascade hops that’s aggressive and accessible at the same time.
