The beer biz never sleeps at American Craft Beer. And here’s just some of what’s been happening in the world of craft beer, while you were drinking your way towards today’s the solar eclipse.

Solar Eclipse Beer (USA) – If you’re reading us in the states, we don’t have to tell that today there’s going to be a TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE visible within a band that touches 14 states across the United States. The last time something like this happened in America was in 1918, so this absolutely calls for a beer.

Solar Eclipse Beer II (St Louis, MO) – Since this kind of eclipse is so rare, and especially because it will only be partially visible to the rest of the world, it’s cause for all kinds of celebration. And Anheuser- Busch’s Research Pilot Brewery is commemorating this celestial occurrence with Eclipse Black Lager a special beer available today their St. Louis Biergarten.

Best Breweries For Viewing The Eclipse In The Northwest (Oregon) – This rare astronomical event, which will be TOTAL across an approximately 70 mile swath, actually starts out in Oregon around 10:16 (PST) and moves east. And because Portland, will only see 99.3% coverage, CraftBeer.com suggests that you visit Salem’s Gilgamesh Brewing for great beer and a near total eclipse. And you don’t want to miss Vagabond Brewing when you’re there either!

Best Breweries For Viewing The Eclipse In The Southcentral Region (Tennessee) – Nashville will experience an almost direct hit around 1:25 (CST) today and it’s home to some great craft breweries! Blackstone Brewing’s has the right name for this cosmic wonder and Southern Grist does some great sours.

Best Breweries For Viewing The Eclipse In The Southeast (Carolinas) – Like Portland, Ashville won’t see the eclipse’s 100% effect. But with to so many great breweries and almost 99.2% coverage that’s where we’ll be at 2:30 pm (EST) today. New Belgium has a great lawn for viewing this thing and Hi-Wire is just fantastic!

Words To Drink By (New York) – “I was born during an eclipse…If you were born on an eclipse, your destiny is chaotic.”  Gloria Vanderbilt, American heiress and socialite

Uber-local to its core, Local Knowledge releases can only be purchased at Great Divide’s original brewery taproom and at their Barrel Bar in Denver.

Local Knowledge #5, the fifth release from this promising small batch series is something they call White Stout, a 7.1% ABV Golden Ale that uses coffee and cocoa instead of roasted malt, to duplicate the characteristics of a stout. Look for White Stout to become available this weekend.

Every Local Knowledge Six-Pack comes a bookmark featuring tips and ideas from locals about fun things to discover in Denver…which is kinda cool, as lomg as there’s beer
