The beer biz never sleeps at American Craft Beer. And here’s some more of what’s been happening in the beer world, while you were drinking yourself stupid last weekend (or rehabbing from last week’s Craft Brewers Conference in Nashville.

Firestone C-Hops Pale Ale earned them the lone gold medal in the crowded “American-Style Pale Ale” category. This was the fifth time since 2004 that the California Central Coast brewery has taken the gold in that category (so obviously they’re doing something right).

Firestone Walker’s flagship British Pale Ale, DBA was also awarded the gold medal in the “Ordinary or Special Bitter” (make up your mind) category. And Firestone STiVO, a Keller Pils collaboration they did with Russian River won the gold medal in the “Kellerbier or Zwickelbier” (again make up your mind) category.

And Krieky Bones from Firestone Walker’s Barrelworks division in Buellton, California earned a silver medal in the “American-Style Sour Ale” category which doesn’t suck either.

Portland Brewers Dominate IPA Category At World Beer Cup (Portland, OR) – Oregon brewers, also looking strong, dominated a certain IPA category at the 2018 World Beer Cup,

Old Town Brewing took home a gold medal for their Shanghai’d IPA…Breakside Brewery was awarded a silver for their Old World IPA…and Ecliptic Brewing a bronze for their Orbiter IPA. And as KVAL notes, Oregon brewers contributed nearly 10 percent of the US haul of World Beer Cup medals awarded last week in ‘Music City.’
