AMERICAN CRAFT BEER’S ‘FALL ESSENTIALS’ WEEKEND PICKS

Hey it’s shaping up to be an unbelievable fall weekend…and you’re up for some fun. Well good, because we’ve got you covered. From the nation’s coolest beer events to movies, music and cutting edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time.  Plus we’ve another weekend beer pick for you too, because we know you’ll be drinking.

A Serious Oktoberfest Celebration (Richmond, VA) – The 49^th annual Richmond Oktoberfest is returning to the Old Dominion Building at the Richmond International Raceway this weekend, and it’s one of the best regional celebrations in the country. Virginia’s largest German-American gathering, this year’s two-evening event (Oct 20^th-21^st) has been known to draw visitors from all over the world. Expect all the essentials like pretzels, festive sausages and polka bands. But most important of all, expect Bier!  Prost!

On The Big Screen – Jo Nesbo’s legendary Norwegian detective, Harry Hole finally makes it to the big screen this weekend, when The Snowman debuts nationally. Based on the novel of the same name from Nesbo’s long-running series, Michael Fassbender stars as Harry Hole.an alcoholic detective (aren’t they all?) in an do-or-die battle with an unstoppable serial killer (again…aren’t they all?). But still we’re hoping it doesn’t suck.

TV Time & Streaming – Netflix brings together their roster of crime-fighting superheroes (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and unfortunately Iron Fist) in their newest Marvel series The Defenders. And although it’s not in the league of their spectacular Jessica Jones solo effort, or even as good as the first Daredevil mini-series, it’s still plenty fun and pairs well with Barleywine.

Pumpkin Beer And a Horror Classic (Stafford, CN) – Two Roads Brewing is throwing their first annual Roadmary’s Baby Pumpkin Fest at the brewery compound, on Saturday afternoon, October 21^st. Come for the beer but stay for a classic outdoor horror movie (Rosemary’s Baby, of course) that they’ll be airing at 6:30.

 

THE ACB WEEKEND BEER PICK

This weekend we’ll be hitting up a seasonal release from Stone Brewing that gonna be perfect as temperatures head south. Explained as the brewery’s ‘beer take’ on the iconic Mexican hot chocolate, Stone Xocoveza is an 8.1% Imperial Stout that was brewed with cacao sourced straight form Belize, coffee, pasilla peppers, vanilla, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg…
