WEEKEND PICKS: Snallygaster, Goliath And Oktoberfest In Brazil

A Monstrous Good Time (Washington, DC) – One of our favorite craft beer festivals returns to the nation’s capital this Saturday, October 12. And if you’ve never attended this mind-blowing beerganza you’ve been making a beastly mistake. Named after a mythical dragon-like beast, rumored to have inhabited the mid-Atlantic’s backwoods around the turn of the century, Snallygaster is a monster of a festival and one of the region’s most anticipated events.

 Snallygaster 2018 is a massive beer outing. And they’ll be serving up the kinds of beers that you only see at the most acclaimed craft beer festivals….hot ticket events like the Firestone Walker Invitational or the Beavertown Extravaganza in London.

TV Time & Streaming – On October 4^th Amazon Prime returned an addictive ‘California Noir’ series that takes place this season in the state’s drought-stricken Central Valley. Created by David E. Kelley, Goliath stars Billy Bob Thornton as a once prominent and now alcoholic lawyer, who gets caught up in a Chinatown-like case involving the death of an old friend and California’s most valuable resource…water.

The Second Biggest Oktoberfest Celebration On Face Of The Planet (Blumenau, Brazil) – We were blown away to learn that the biggest Oktoberfest festival outside of Munich, Germany is now taking place in Brazil, an amazing beer-loving country.   A celebration of German traditions from all over the world (only in Brazil)  Oktoberfest Blumenau 2019 is 19 day celebration (October 9-27) so you’ve so you’ve got plenty of time to call in sick and book you’re airfare. Prost!

 

THE ACB WEEKEND BEER PICK

Even though Oktoberfest has wrapped up in Munich, we’ll be drinking Festbier this weekend and Iron Fist brewing has a great one!  Brewed to celebrate autumn using both traditional and less traditional malts, Iron Fist Oktoberfist is a 6% ABV medium-bodied Märzen Lager with caramel and nutty undertones and a glowing reddish hue.
