Summer is ON and American craft brewers are addressing things with sensational new beers you’re gonna want to have around.
Stone Goes Back Down Under (Escondido, CA) – Stone Brewing has a new addition to its Fan Favorites Series, a line of “Blasts from the Past” that have been on the backburner far too long. First brewed in 2015 with an Australian hop bill, Stone Downunderstruck IPA is a 9% ABV India Pale Ale brewed with a smart menu of hops that only grow “Down Under.” Originally released to commemorate Stone’s 19th Anniversary, this is a recipe that’s garnered constant rumblings for its return.
“Stone 19th Anniversary Thunderstruck IPA was such a memorable beer because it showcased a particular hop region at a time when Australian hops weren’t a big focus of the US brewing world,” explained Jeremy Moynier, Stone Brewing Sr. Manager of Brewing & Innovation. “That concept of ‘terroir’ is really exemplified here. The flavor combination from these hops was really unique, and it still stands up today.”
A Haze Daze (Hershey, PA) – Tröegs Independent Brewing has released something interesting, a beer that combines the clean, crisp bitterness of a West Coast IPA with the softness of a hazy India Pale Ale. Envisioned as a companion to the brewery’s popular Perpetual IPA, Tröegs Perpetual Haze is a 7.5% ABV Hazy India Pale Ale with a smooth, pillowy mouthfeel thanks to London 3 yeast and a grain bill featuring a blend of malted barley and raw wheat.
A Wheat Beer Classic (White Plains, NY) – We only cover imported beers that we think can hold their own up against America’s best craft beers, and Paulaner USA imports an iconic Wheat Beer that many consider a masterpiece. The #1 wheat beer in Germany for good reason, Paulaner Hefe-Weizen is a 5.5% ABV Witbier that, we promise you, will not disappoint.
In developing this beer, the Paulaner brewmasters have perfected a unique technique with “yeast suspension,” resulting in a uniform, slightly cloudy appearance, consistent quality, and perfect taste.
