If drinking beer that doesn’t deliver a buzz and might even be beneficial to your health is your thing, Hop & Hemp, a new startup in the United Kingdom, has just what you need.

Hop & Hemp’s CBD-infused low-alcohol beer contains 0% of the psychoactive THC found in the cannabis plant and all of CBD’s purported health benefits.

The London-based startup is currently offering two beers in the United Kingdom, Easy Times IPA and Lowdown Lager. And unlike New Belgian’s CBD-infused beer in the states, both of Hop & Hemp’s brews have an ABV of 0.5%. The beers also contain 8mg of CBD per 330ml bottle, which “helps takes the edge off an evening” according to the ‘budding’ company.

James da Silva, from Hop & Hemp, explains the company’s directive this way…, UK Startup Launches CBD-Infused Low ABV Beer

“We love beer. Sometimes maybe a little too much. That’s why we made it our mission to create brews that have all the big flavors of the best craft beer that is suitable to drink throughout the day. With no sore head and no Sunday write off, this product is perfectly placed to provide a viable alternative to regular ABV beers.”

The UK market for CBD products is already estimated to be worth over £1 billion this year, according to the Cannabis Trade Association.

Hop & Hemp partnered with CBD retailer The Drug Store which launched in October 2018 and has grown to be one of the largest CBD providers in Europe.

Among the brand’s four directors are Charles Instone, director of e-commerce at London-based CBD retailer The Drug Store, and Lars Thomassen, the chief executive of Danish Cannabis, a medicinal cannabis company working in partnership with Canadian firm Canopy Growth.

And as The Drug Store’s Clemens Böninger explains CBD’s time has arrived…

“Interest in CBD has skyrocketed this year, with many people using it within the health and wellness industry. It’s exciting to be incorporating it with a product as well-loved as beer, and one we really believe is a natural fit.”
