Contrary to the perception that many baby boomers are into craft beer, a new survey suggests they’re primarily mass market beer consumers…

Here’s the deal…

Although the Baby Boomer generation, those people born during the post–World War II baby boom which ended in 1964, make up a significant part of craft beer’s audience it may not be as large as some think according to a recent YouGov survey. And as Vinepair notes, even though boomers only make 21% of the US population their enthusiasm for beer is well-known, making them a key target for beer marketers.

The poll conducted by the American arm of the international research and data company, asked respondents who were born between 1946 to 1964  to rate popular beers and then note the “positivity” they felt towards those brands.

And here are the beers that baby boomers most prefer…

  2. Guinness – Popularity Rating: 47%
  3. Samuel Adams – Popularity Rating: 47%
  4. Miller – Popularity Rating: 46%
  5. Budweiser – Popularity Rating: 44%
  6. Corona – Popularity Rating: 43%
  7. Coors – Popularity Rating: 43%
  8. Stella Artois – Popularity Rating: 40%
  9. Blue Moon – Popularity Rating 39%
  10. Michelob Ultra – Popularity Rating: 38%
  11. Corona Extra – Popularity Rating: 37%
