I know what you're probably saying...Plainfield? What the hell is Plainfield? Well, in addition to being one of the fastest-growing areas of Chicagoland - this southwestern suburb of Chicago is now a damn fine place for artisan food and serious craft beer!

We blame the industry for this... It used to be that when we wrapped up our Weekend Picks on Friday, we could coast through the weekend. There was little need to check in for updates - things were pretty much done. But clearly all that's changed.

How come we're not surprised by this?

A recent study led by David Kraken of Indiana University is suggesting what we at American Craft Beer.com have long suspected: that even the slightest taste of beer can trigger a rush of chemical pleasure in the brain.

So many beers- So little time... With winter waning, we're beginning to see some "changing seasons" offerings. ...Plus we've some great new releases from Ommegang and HUB that you'll want to get your sweaty little hands on.

Being a Portlander, I am spoiled. Every weekend there's at least one beer festival or big release going on, if not every day of the week now. Just as Portland's growing population has spilled north over the banks of the Columbia River, so too has the city's artisan brewing culture.
