, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – May 17, 2013The fifth annual Jacksonville Craft and Import Beer Festival is taking place tonight, May 17, at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, and American Craft Beer’s very own Florida correspondent, Jeanna Malines, is going to be there! This year’s one evening event has been expanded to cover all three floors of the arena and will feature more than 300 beers from over 45 breweries – so get ready for some serious drinking. If you’re anywhere down Texas way and you’re in the mood to see some really cool music acts, then you should hit up the Fort Worth Music Festival.This two-day music fest is taking place today and tomorrow, May 17th– 18th and features a stunningly diverse and rich lineup. Friday’s lineup skews Alt-country to power pop and features artists such as the Drive by Truckers and Old 97. San Tan Brewing will be presenting the 3rd annual Ameri”Can” Canned Craft Beer Festival out in Scottsdale, Arizona this Saturday, May 18, so if you enjoy getting canned, this is where you want to be. This afternoon festival is taking place at the Scottsdale Civic Center (so be sure to be civil) and will feature more than 150 local and national canned craft beers as well as the Craft Can award ceremony. If you check out Weekend Picks every Friday, you are well aware that Iron Man 3 and The Great Gatsby are already out there. And another huge movie is debuting this weekend, when Star Trek Into Darkness makes its way into theaters everywhere. In one of this year’s most anticipated releases, JJ Abram’s returns to the legendary franchise that he rejuvenated in 2009. All the players return to the USS Enterprise to help Captain Kirk lead a manhunt into a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. No need to overthink all this – it’s Star Trek. For the first time in four years, they are releasing Left Hand St. Vrain, a true-to-style Belgian Tripel that’s named after a river that runs alongside the brewery.The 2013 edition of St. Vrain features a label redesign in line with the rest of Left Hand’sportfolio. The new label brings to life the classic theme of good vs. evil. The St. Vrain River is illustrated, as well as the face of Ceran St. Vrain himself – a regional 17th century fur trader. St. Vrain will soon be available in kegs and 22oz bottles.
