, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – July 19, 2013

Hey it’s Friday, the weekend’s almost here, and you are “beyond-ready” for some serious summertime fun. Well good, because that’s where we come in. We’re all about it and we’ve got your back big-time. Plus we’ve got an awesome weekend beer pick that you’ll want to track down. So welcome to this week’s edition of our awesome Weekend Picks!

This Saturday, July 20, New York City’s Webster Hall will play host to a one-of-a-kind craft beer event. The NYC Craft Beer Festival – Summer Jazz is a unique fusion of serious jazz and cutting-edge craft beer and it’s all taking place on a grand scale! This two-session event will offer afternoon and evening tastings featuring 150 beers from some of the nation’s best breweries and live jazz provided by the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club! In addition to nonstop beer and jazz, craft beer experts will also be hosting intimate seminars and brewery reps will be on hand at the taps. , The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – July 19, 2013If you’re in the mood to catch a movie this weekend and if you (like us) need a break from Giant Monsters vs. Gigantic Robots, then we think Only God Forgives might just be the ticket. Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive) reteams with ACB fav Ryan Gosling, who stars as a drug smuggler thriving in Bangkok’s criminal underworld. C’mon, drugs, Bangkok, criminals set on violence, and Ryan Gosling – what’s not to like?

Our Editor-In-Chief, who honed his beer-drinking skills while growing up in the Chicago suburb of Naperville, would be pissed if we didn’t make The Naperville Ale Fest a Weekend Pick. This inaugural event takes place this Saturday, July 20th and since this festival will feature more than 180 unique beers from craft breweries around the country, we think you should be there!

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – July 19, 2013One of this summer’s more interesting tours will be touching down at the Comcast Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts on Saturday and from what we can tell, tickets are still available! The Americanarama Festival of Music features Bob Dylan, Wilco, My Morning Jacket, and Ryan Bingham – so there’s absolutely something for everyone. One of the country’s most popular craft beer festivals is taking place this weekend, so fasten your seat belts – the 2013 Portland International Beerfest is on! PIB is a 3-day beerganza (July 19th – 21st) offering more than 150 rare, hard-to-find, and exotic beers from 16 countries. You can Zen-out while you stroll around Portland’s beautiful North Park with a cold one in hand and listen to music play as you do. But be forewarned. This is not a festival for wusses – PIB will roll out an unforgiving selection of top-rated Barley Wines, Imperial Stouts, Double IPAs, Barrel-Aged Strong Ales, Farmhouse Saisons, and Sour Ales.
