After a long holiday drought, beer festivals and beer weeks are kicking in big-time. Kalamazoo Beer Week starts tomorrow and runs through the 18th, and it sounds like a full-on blast! This is the third time that Kalamazoo, Michigan has hosted this event and it just keeps getting better and better. This weeklong series will include special tastings, dinners, and interactive opportunities. You’ll meet the brewers themselves, but more importantly, you’ll be drinking serious beer all week long! , The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – January 11, 2013The much talked about Zero Dark Thirty opens wide this weekend and its one of the best movies of 2012! Its director, Kathryn Bigelow, once again shows herself to be a force to be reckoned with. She proved that with “The Hurt Locker” and again with this year’s” Zero Dark Thirty.” You’d have to have been living under a rock to not know the back story on this one. “Zero Dark Thirty” chronicles the decade-long hunt for Osama bin Laden and his eventual death at the hands of the Navy S.E.A.L. Team 6 in May 2011. Filmed in docudrama style, Zero Dark Thirty stars Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton, and Chris Pratt and it’s destined to become a classic.

Columbus, Ohio is hosting its third annual Columbus Winter Beerfest tonight and tomorrow (Jan 11th-12th) down at the Greater Columbus Convention Center and it sounds like a “must-do.” We’re talking two big nights and more than sixty brewers , The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – January 11, 2013serving up some 300+ craft beers. If you’re not considering rehab on Monday – you didn’t go! There will be VIP tickets, with early admission, available for both days and designated driver tickets as well. If you’re a fan of Caribbean Cruises and you want to see some of the best singer-songwriters in the world perform, then you need to be onboard for the Cayamo Cruise 2013 – seven days of music, adventure, hanging with your favorite artists and relaxation. The Norwegian Pearl departs from Miami on Sunday and it is “totally on” from there! And here’s just a few of who’ll be performing: Lyle Lovett – Richard Thompson – Brandi Carlile – Buddy Miller – Keb’ Mo’ – Rodney Crowell – Shawn Mullins – Jason Isbell – Edwin McCain, Dead Flamingoes and Jill Sobule. Our Weekend Beer Picks

Grand Teton Brewing Company will be releasing their Double Vision Doppelbock next week so you want to be ready! First released in 2009, Double Vision was brewed to celebrate their 25th Anniversary and will be available on January 15th in kegs and bottle-conditioned 750 mL cases.

Full Sail Brewing Company has just announced the release of a new rotating line of classic ales called the Pub Series, and the first beer in the series is Full Sail Nut Brown Ale, which they describe as a smooth, malty, easy-drinking dark beer and we’re just fine with that. Nut Brown Ale is available in 6-packs and on draft for 90 days only from January to March when the next beer in the series will be released.
