The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – February 1, 2013
Hey it’s Friday and yes, we understand that it’s Super Bowl Weekend and we’ll get to that. But what about the rest of this weekend…You want to have some fun, right? That’s where we come in! We’re all about the fun (football and non-football) and we’ve got you covered. Plus we’ve got a special Super Bowl beer pick for you too…..So welcome to this week’s Super Bowl XLVII edition of our Weekend Picks!
The Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild is throwing their 12th annual Winterfest in St. Paul tonight (2/1) and it shouldn’t be missed! This annual festival is solely devoted to their member breweries and that’s part of what makes tonight’s event so cool. It’s all taking place at the Minnesota History Museum overlooking the Capital and they’ll be showcasing some great regional beers. For more info on what promises to be a fun night, be sure to check out: Winterfest

The Washington Beer Commission knows how to throw an event and they’ve got a good one going on up in Seattle tomorrow. That’s when they’ll be presenting their much-lauded Belgianfest which will be taking place at the Bell Harbor Internationals Conference Center down on Seattle’s waterfront. There are two sessions, an afternoon and an evening tasting, each one featuring more than 80 Belgian-style beers crafted by Washington breweries. A special Belgianfest discount rate is available at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront, which is located just steps away from the Conference Center. For more info on this dynamite event, check out: Belgianfest

And last, but certainly not least, is this Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVII. This is an American tradition and a meeting of tribes and there will be parties and events taking place everywhere. The Baltimore Ravens will be taking on the San Francisco 49ers down in New Orleans and who knows how this game’s going to play out. San Francisco has the talent but the Ravens have the momentum and this could be a great game. So fasten your seatbelts everybody and raise a glass to these two teams. They both have more than earned their right to be there!
Our Super Bowl XLVII Weekend Beer Pick
The Brooklyn Brewery‘s Dry Irish Stout is perfect for all those Super Bowl parties you’ll be attending this weekend. It’s as traditional as football itself. This beer is brewed the old-fashioned way using large amounts of roasted grains and East Golding hops. And it’s not so strong that you can’t start power-pounding them when your favorite team starts losing. It also pairs brilliantly with chicken wings, avocado-crab dip, cold-cut platters and potato chips. (But then again… what doesn’t?)
