The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – July 17, 2013

Hey it’s Wednesday and it’s Rumor Mill Time…Word has it that Sobriety Kills! We’ll be bringing you what we know so far. Plus we’ve got some fast-breaking news from our friends at New Belgium and an update from the DC Brau boys. We’ve also got an awesome new release that you’ll want to chase down. So fasten your seat belts everybody…THIS WEEK’S RUMOR MILL IS ON!

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – July 17, 2013Sobriety Kills! (Ireland) – That’s the tagline from the new Irish-British horror-comedy, GRABBERS, that’s scheduled to be released in select theaters as well as on Cable VOD, SundanceNow, and other digital platforms on July 19. GRABBERS, which has been described by some as “slimy, booze-soaked monster madness,” generated considerable buzz when it premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, so we’re totally psyched! And now our friends at Mammoth Advertising have given us two super-campy and “suitable for framing” posters that come with a code to watch the film for free – and you can qualify for a chance to win one by going to the ACB Facebook Page and checking it out!

Bluejacket Hanging Out with the Cool Kids (Escondido, CA) -Bluejacket’s Brewmaster, Megan Parisi, recently revealed that Stone Brewing’s next collaboration partners will be the not-yet-opened Bluejacket and 10 Barrel Brewing. Our friends at beerpulse are reporting that Parisi was hanging out at the Stone compound yesterday along with 10 Barrel’s Tonya Cornett.

New Belgium Goes Full-On Mountie (Fort Collins, CO) – It appears that New Belgium Brewing’s World Domination Tour is continuing with word that they’ll be bringing their award-winning beers to the frozen wastelands that others refer to as British Columbia. This is their first foray into Canada and it’s scheduled to kick off in September, long before the country’s populace is forced to retire to their igloos to sit out their long cold winter. No word from New Belgium as to how extensively dog sleds will be used in this expansion.

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – July 17, 2013If You’re Bringing your Beers into Fort Collins…They’d Better Be Good (Denver, Co) – Our friends at Wynkoop just gave us the heads-up that they’ve begun distributing their brand in Fort Collins, home to industry players like New Belgium, Odell, and rising stars like Fort Collins Brewery. This is a ballsy and self-assured move on Wynkoop’s part but should come as no surprise for a brewery known for its Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout.

DC Brau Gets Historical (Washington, DC) – The Heurich House Museum, DC Brau Brewing Company, and the DC Homebrewers will soon offer the city a taste of one of the District’s most important historic breweries. On August 12, they will launch Heurich’s Lager, an historical recreation of the pre-prohibition classic Pilsner that was originally brewed by the Christian Heurich Brewing Company. That evening, the museum will host a small formal fundraiser at his iconic Victorian mansion and will serve Heurich’s Lager for the first time.

A Rumor Mill Release You Want to Look Out For

Heavy Seas Beer has just brought back their popular summer seasonal and we’re totally jazzed that they have! Red Sky at Night, which takes its name from the mariner saying “Red sky at night, sailors delight” is a 7.5% bright and spicy Saison and it’s available now through September.
