The American Craft Beer 2012 Holiday Shopping Guide – Part 3

With the holidays just around the corner, we thought it might be a good time to highlight some of this season’s more interesting gift ideas for the craft beer lover on your list. So we turned to our American Craft Beer correspondents for suggestions, and we got so many great ideas back that we are adding one final gift guide! If you missed our first two installments, you should check them out: Holiday Guide Part 1 & Holiday Guide Part 2

Since our Creative Director, Jeff Chenault, is the main reason why our site looks so rockin’, it’s not surprising that he found this book full of the world’s best brews, 1001 Beers You Must Taste Before You Die, fun to flip through. The book takes you style-by-style through Europe’s classics and foreign brews to the latest new-wave microbrew sensations in America and beyond. And since the end of the world is fast approaching, this book is a vital read now more than ever before. You’ve still got a little time both before the holidays and the apocalypse to complete the list – so we suggest you stop procrastinating and get to it!

Sometimes the most overlooked craft beer gifts can become the most special, as many people would say is the case with their favorite brewery T-shirt. So we agree with DC Steve, our Mid-Atlantic Correspondent, that you can never have too much craft beer apparel (or craft beer, for that matter). If you’re looking to add to your collection, Steve recommends checking out Dogfish Head’s ‘nakedness prevention’ page for their cool shirts (and other apparel), Flying Dog’s t-shirt merch (it’s totally worth checking out just to see the model poses), and Stone’s awesome shirt collection. Or go visit a craft brewery near you for apparel and get some local street cred!

And, DC Steve adds, don’t forget to pick up a beer-related gift for your pet. A dog collar with a built-in bottle opener, like this one from Flying Dog, will ensure that your dog gets the attention it needs. Man’s best friend just got a whole new meaning.

For those ladies who may be growing tired of seeing their significant others in a constantly rotating assortment of T-shirts, you may need to give them a good reason to get excited about donning a suit for that holiday party. For that extra pizzazz, our Texas Correspondent Amber Medin recommends checking out these beer bottle cap cuff links on Etsy. If you can’t find your favorite brewery’s cap in her online store, simply send an e-mail letting Brittany know what you’d like – she’s got a massive collection! Not only are you helping your man look more refined, but you’re supporting a craft artisan – it’s a win-win!

If you’re like our Northwest Correspondent Matt Lyman, you know that your beer selection isn’t the only thing that can show off your personality – so can the vessel you choose to drink it out of. Since Matt’s dabbled in improv comedy, he’s always got something clever to say and these chalkboard beer glasses from Etsy give him another outlet. And, if you order them from Etsy, you’re once again supporting a small business person. So that’s pretty cool.
