In the annals of Stupid Beer Crimes, this one’s right up there.
It’s also incredibly cruel, alligator or not.
Two Florida men were arrested after allegedly catching an alligator and encouraging it to bite one of the men’s arms while forcing it to drink beer, according to a report from TCPalm.
Floridians, Timothy Kepke, 27, and Noah Osborne, 22, were both arrested on October 3 in Palm City, Florida and charged with one count each of unlawfully taking an alligator, a felony.
According to the Martins County Sheriff’s Department Osborne caught the alligator at 10 pm on August 26 in Palm City, Florida.
He apparently took the animal from the side of a road with his bare hands (!), but that’s when things got even stupider and led to a complaint was received by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission about the incident, which was said to be recorded on video.

In that video Kepke is seen tempting the animal to bite his right forearm, before pouring beer into the animal’s mouth which understandably aggravated the alligator’s aggressive behavior… And when police visited Kepke on September 17, he confirmed that he appeared in the video.
It’s not clear what Kepke and Osborne were hoping to achieve by doing this. But lack clarity is a stable in Stupid Beer Crimes…
Kepke told police that he was not drunk but did have a “couple beers” during the incident. And Newsweek is reporting that after sharing beer with the alligator, the pair did release the animal back into the wild.
But Martins County authorities were unforgiving..
Kepke and Osborne were jailed with $5,000 and $2,500 bonds, respectively. And after making bail both were released later Oct. 3.
