Stone Brewing is heeding its fans’ wishes in 2022 with special Throwback releases that will return throughout the year. These beers are legends from the Stone’s prolific 25-year brewing history, beers that helped build the nation’s ninth largest craft brewery.
The series was teased in 2021 when Stone beer lovers were asked to vote-in their favorite beers from Stone’s past on social media.
And in a virtual callout for the days of ENORMOUS beers, every Throwback Series release that received the lion’s share of votes was either a hop bomb or a high ABV monster…
“This is a lineup of beers that represents the styles, creativity and big flavors that helped stoke the craft beer industry, Stone Brewing co-founder Greg Koch said.
The series kicks off with Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Black IPA a 9% ABV legend that melds the instincts of a West Coast-Style India Pale Ale with the roasty robustness of an Imperial Stout.
First introduced in 2007 as an Anniversary release, Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Black IPA graced their year-round lineup for a few years before its retirement in 2015. Since then, the brewery has received multiple emails, phone calls and social media comments nearly every day from diehard Sublime fans pleading, begging and sometimes demanding that the brewery to bring it back.
Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Black IPA has now returned nationwide for a limited time in classic 22oz bombers and 6-packs of cans.

Baird / Ishii / Stone Japanese Green Tea IPA – First released in January 2015, this 10.1 % ABV “East meets West” collaboration combines specially sourced Japanese Sencha green tea with herbal Crystal and Australian Helga hops. (Late February)
Stone RuinTen Triple IPA – Making its debut to celebrate the brewery’s 10th anniversary in 2012, Stone RuinTen is a massive 10.8% ABV India Pale Ale with a not-for-the-timid hop profile and an unapologetic ABV. (Late April)
Stone Peak Conditions Double Hazy IPA –This 8.1% ABV India Pale Ale offers all the hops and bravado of a double IPA along with real fruit additions of passion fruit, orange and guava. (June)
Stone 25th + 1 Anniversary Triple IPA – Stone’s latest Triple IPA will extend the 25th anniversary for a bonus year. (August)
Stone Imperial Russian Stout – One of the foremost examples of this Old-World style in the American craft beer market. Rich and sinful, this intensely aromatic 10.8% ABV Stout abounds with notes of chocolate, coffee, black currants, anise and roastiness. (October)
