With Memorial Day now in the rear view mirror, summer is ON! And American craft brewers are addressing the season with intriguing new offerings you’re gonna want to have around.

An Eye-Opening Addition (Grand Rapids, MI) – Founders Brewing is returning a popular KBS variation to its 2021 Barrel-Aged Series that intensifies a flavor that is already at the heart of the beer – coffee. First introduced in 2019, Founders KBS Espresso is a massive 12% ABV Bourbon Barrel-Aged Chocolate Coffee Stout which is additionally aged on expresso beans.

“KBS Espresso is such a fun beer and is a fan favorite so we had to bring it back again this year,” said Brewmaster Jeremy Kosmicki. “There’s a lot of flavors going on in a bottle of KBS, as those who’ve had it before can attest. If the coffee is your favorite characteristic, then KBS Espresso is definitely for you.”

But you’re going to have to wait till fall to get your hands on this one. KBS Espresso will be available in 12oz bottles and on draft beginning in October at both the Grand Rapids and Detroit taprooms and see wider distribution in November.

In A Quandary (Denver, C0) – On June 5 River North Brewing is retuning a monster with a special whiskey twist. Aged to perfection, this time in whiskey barrels, River North Quandary is an 11.8% ABV Belgian-Style Quadrupel Ale with a dark caramel, chocolate-hued body and rich candied plums, vanilla and wood notes.

Chill Out (Portland, OR) – With Memorial Day now behind us, Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB), the first B Corp brewery in the Pacific Northwest, has returned an uber-flavorful summer seasonal. Unapologetically loaded with Azacca, Mosaic, and El Dorado hops, Hopworks Totally Chill Hazy IPA is a 6% ABV India Pale Ale with intense notes of pineapple and mango, a super cloudy body and juicy mouthfeel.

“There’s nothing like finishing a long day of mountain biking in the sun and cracking open a can of Totally Chill,” Christian Ettinger, Founder and Brewmaster at Hopworks, said from atop his bike. “We designed this beer with summer in mind and hope it becomes your sunset sipper this season!”
