“We grew this community together and we’ll get through this together the same way – with mutual support, shared passion for beer, and a whole lot of hops.” – Stone Brewing

Call it the “Capital of Craft,” or America’s #1 beer destination, San Diego is home to some of craft beer’s most important players, and seven of those breweries have banded together to help keep the San Diego Brewers Guild afloat in the wake of COVID-19.

Here’s the deal….

, San Diego Breweries Collaborate To Aid Brewers GuildThe impact of the coronavirus on the beer industry is profound and far-reaching…many craft breweries are now struggling to survive and the brewers guilds that support them in trouble as well.

One of the organizations that has seen its funding decline in this tumultuous time is the San Diego brewers Guild. And this week Stone Brewing, AleSmith, Modern Times, Mother Earth, Pizza Port, Port Brewing, and Thorn announced an epic collaboration beer benefiting them.

Described as “the incredible output of 116 years combined brewing know-how,” Stone / AleSmith / Modern Times / Mother Earth / Pizza Port / Port Brewing / Thorn San Diego Brewers United Double IPA (yep, that’s its name) is an 8.5% ABV West Coast-Style India Pale Ale with loads of intense mango, peach juice, grapefruit, an up front bitterness and a citrusy malt finish that balances everything out.

That this project was instigated by Stone Brewing, who brought everyone together, is hardly a surprise. The Escondido-headquartered brewery has a long history with the organization.  Stone co-founder Greg Koch is a big supporter having served as the San Diego Brewers Guild’s first President.

And Stone Distributing, the nation’s largest independent distributor of craft-only beverages, is handling this California-only benefit beer’s distribution.

, San Diego Breweries Collaborate To Aid Brewers Guild“Stone Distributing Co. has been such a powerful vehicle for our local craft breweries over the past two decades,” explained Kris Anacleto, President of the San Diego Brewer’s Guild….

The team’s generosity and swift mobility of its partners continues to improve our local craft beer scene. The collaborators of this beer are some of our city’s most generous and prolific brewers, making this beer a truly significant contribution to our local craft beer scene.”

The craft beer community has become an ingrained piece of San Diego culture. But it’s been humbled by the pandemic and its guild needs your help.

And if one can help by buying a 4-Pack of something special, crafted by some of the nation’s most accomplished brewers…why not?
