Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you don’t want to miss that!

, Rumor Mill: Beer Tourism Booms In Grand Rapids, Samuel Adams 2019 Utopias DebutsBeer Tourism Big In Grand Rapids (Kent County, MI) – According to Mlive, one of our favorite sites to tap into Michigan’s craft beers scene, craft beer tourism is booming in Kent County (think Grand Rapids and its surroundings), home to brewing players like Founders and others.

An estimated 94,815 “beer tourists” visited one of Kent County’s roughly 40 craft breweries between October 2018 and July of this year, according to a new study released by Experience Grand Rapids, the county’s convention and visitors marketing agency. That’s more than double the number of beer tourists counted in a similar 2015 study.

Grand Rapids was named “Beer City USA” in an online poll in 2012. At the time, it tied for first place with Asheville, North Carolina. The next year the city won the online vote outright and its reputation as a premier beer destination, that’s home to some of the best breweries in America, has only grown since then.

Words To Drink By (Grand Rapids, MI) – “The idea of ‘Beer City USA’ didn’t happen overnight.”   Max Trierweiler, co-owner of The Mitten Brewing Co.

, Rumor Mill: Beer Tourism Booms In Grand Rapids, Samuel Adams 2019 Utopias DebutsSam Adams Utopias Ship (Boston MA) –  Boston Beer’s Samuel Adams is celebrating the release of the eleventh batch of its highly anticipated, ultra-pricy, barrel-aged extreme beer, Samuel Adams Utopias.

Illegal in 15 states due to its 28% ABV, this biennial event beer is available in select locations as of Oct 15, and will be on tap for the first time ever at the Samuel Adams Cincinnati Taproom on November 15.

Blended, aged and carefully finished in dedicated barrel rooms at Samuel Adams’ three breweries in Boston, Lehigh Valley, PA and Cincinnati, OH, 2019 Utopias is reminiscent of a rich vintage Port or fine Sherry. Only 77 wooden casks of Utopias were brewed this year…So you know what to do.

What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Lexington, VA) – With the Washington Nationals in the playoffs we’ve been drinking a Devils Backbone limited release that they did to celebrate the team. The ONLY beer that we’re drinking during this incredible series, Devils Backbone Earned Run Ale is 4.2% ABV Golden Pale Ale that was crafted to go to the World Series.
