Registration for one of the beer industry’s most prestigious competitions, thhe World Beer Cup, is opening soon, so brewers need to be ready because this biennial competition is a big deal.

Winning a World Beer Cup is like winning a Grammy, an Emmy or Oscar…It brings the world’s attention to even the smallest brewery’s doorstep and like a hit song or film, it can make a career.

Presented by the Brewers Association (BA), the competition is held every two years and open to professional breweries around the globe that meet all legal and permitting requirements for breweries in their respective country.

And given that the “Olympics of Beer” was put on hold last year due to COVID-19, the anticipation has never been higher.

The Brewers Association started the World Beer Cup in 1996 to celebrate the global art and science of brewing. Beers are judged by a panel of elite international judges and the top three beers in each category are presented gold, silver, and bronze awards.

In 2018, the World Beer Cup had 8,234 entries from 2,515 breweries across 66 countries, the largest to date and we expect that 2022 competition will be even bigger.

“When industry professionals acknowledge the excellence in products from around the market, the beer drinker can be sure that those brands are the finest available,” says Chris Swersey, World Beer Cup competition director.
