QUICK HITS – Maine Beer Goes To Iceland, Ninkasi Brewing And More!

Things never slow in the world of craft beer. And here’s some of what’s been happening while you were drinking your way through the weekend.

, QUICK HITS – Maine Beer Goes To Iceland, Ninkasi Brewing And More!Transatlantic Beer Love (Portland, ME) – For the first time ever, Maine-brewed craft beers will be reportedly making their way across the Atlantic and be available in June at a festival being held in Reykjavik.

The Maine Beer Box is a branded shipping container that will ferry Maine’s brewing bounty to the Iceland’s capital. With more than 50 taps built in its side this beer transport system was designed as a way to start introducing Maine Beer into Iceland and eventually to the whole European marketplace. The Beer Box will then make its return to Maine in July, filled this time around with Icelandic craft beer destined for a Portland beer festival.

The Centerpiece of a multi-year effort between the Maine Brewers’ Guild and Eimskip, an Icelandic shipping company, this new international initiative hopes to tap into Europe’s growing enthusiasm for artisan beer, and build demand for Maine beer as an international brand.
