A police request for drunk volunteer received an overwhelming response from the community. Who could have seen that coming?

Police in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, posted a request on Facebook asking for people “willing to drink hard liquor to the point of inebriation” to get in touch.
The bad news was that the volunteer drunks wouldn’t be paid but alcohol would be provided…

The Kutztown Police Department is looking for three (3) volunteers to assist us in training officers to administer Standardized Field Sobriety Tests during suspected DUI traffic stops. The volunteers must be available on April 4, 2019 between 2:30PM and 7PM.
The Drinks Business reported that “volunteers were required to be in good health, be aged between 25 and 40, have a clean criminal history and be willing to drink hard liquor to the point of inebriation. “
Participants would also be asked to sign a waiver releasing the Borough of Kutztown of any liability (yah think?), and were required to have a “sober/responsible party” to take them home at the end of the day.
To the surprise of the Kutztown Borough Police Department their switchboard was soon swamped with volunteer drunks willing to contribute their time.
Less than 24 hours later the police rescinded their initial post to say “they’d had more than enough interest,” according to the Express & Star. Note the all caps that were used…
