Newbies – New Releases You Want to Look Out For – April 4, 2013
So many beers, So little time…With so many craft breweries, releasing so many beers, we thought it might help to provide a weekly update on all the new beers that are hitting the streets …..So welcome to this week’s edition of Newbies – your guide to great new craft beer releases!

Schlafly Cans Coming Down the Pike (St Louis, MO) – Schlafly Beer has announced the launch of a new series of Schlafly Can Sessionsbeer styles available exclusively in 6-packs of cans. That’s right – these new, bold, lower-alcohol beer styles will now be available only in cans. The first two styles in the series are Schlafly IPA and Schlafly American Brown Ale. Look for Schwarzbier and Yakima Wheat Ale to join the lineup as seasonal releases later this year and next spring, respectively.
Black Raven Comes Up With Nothing but Flowers (Redmond, WA) – Black Raven Brewing Company has announced a new session IPA and we’re pretty psyched about it! Nothing but Flowers is a lower alcohol IPA (5.3% ABV) that was born out of the joy of late night, double-batch brewing…the whirring of the pumps ….and the wails of David Byrne (Yes!). Flowers is a limited taproom release only and it will make its debut this Saturday (4/6) at their Redmond Compound.

That’s The One They Call Zoe (Austin, TX) – Hops & Grain is adding a third can of beer to its permanent collection, a pale lager called The One They Call Zoe. Named after owner Josh Hare’s beloved pup Zoe, the brew is dry-hopped with Crystal hops from Oregon and pours pale in color. It’s crisp, smooth, and sports a faint citrus flavor.Zoe launched at the brewery and in Austin on April 1, and will reach Houston and San Antonio retailers shortly.
Daredevil Releases Rip Cord (Shelbyville, IN) – Daredevil Brewing Co, the brewer of Lift Off IPA, has announced the inaugural release of their newest seasonal and we’re interested. Rip Cord Double IPA is a 9% ABV limited seasonal release that will be available on draft throughout central and southern Indiana beginning Monday, April 8.
Twisted Pine Thinks Small (Boulder, CO) – The brewers at Twisted Pine Brewing Company are welcoming warmer weather with the seasonal reappearance of La Petite Saison. La Petiteis unfilteredlike traditional saisons and pours a hazy straw color. This award-winning Belgian farmhouse-style beer will be released with a party at the brewery’s ale house in Boulder on April 5, and will find its way to store shelves and tap handles the following week.
