June is ON and American craft brewers are addressing things with a full slate of new beers you’re gonna want to chase down.
Time To Get Nimble (Hershey, PA) – Tröegs Independent Brewing is returning one of its most anticipated once-a-year releases. A big beer that goes down easy, Nimble Giant is a rich and deep orange 9% ABV Double IPA brimming with grapefruit, pineapple and honeysuckle notes that are offset by a sturdy backbone of pilsner and Vienna malts.
The popular IPA came up through the brewery’s small-batch Scratch Series, starting with an experiment with Mosaic hops. After about half a dozen test batches, the Tröegs brewing team landed on a hop combination everyone loved – a mix of Mosaic, Simcoe and Azacca – and they never looked back.

Smoking! (Burlington, VT) – The World Beer Cup is global beer competition that evaluates beers from around the world and recognizes the most outstanding brewers and their beers. And in 2022 Switchback Brewing took home a Gold award in the “Historical Beer” category for a unique brew that is part of its Flynn on Fire Smoked Beer Initiative – a line of beers that explores the endless possibilities of smoked malt.
Named after Switchback’s longest serving Tap Room bartender and employee-owner, Katie Macuga, Katie’s Love Poem is a 3.2% ABV Grodziskie – a light and lofty Polish Wheat Ale with a classic touch of smoke. Brewmaster and co-founder, Bill Cherry started the Flynn on Fire Smoked Beer Series in 2017 and it now consists of eleven smoked beers with more in development every year.
Better Red Than Dead (Baltimore, MD) – DuClaw Brewing has a new addition to its core lineup that been in production for years and is now getting the spotlight. Riding a stylistic resurgence DuClaw Misfit Red is a 5% ABV American Red Ale that melds the instinct of the malty Amber with the snap of an Irish Red Ale.
