A New Jersey brewery has released a new beer with a name that mocks the Houston Astro’s cheating scandal…And with Major League Baseball on hold due to the coronavirus, this beer will have to do.

Here’s the deal…

Departed Soles Brewing is a New Jersey brewery with a poignant backstory and a new beer which pokes fun at the Astros cheating scandal…

First the backstory…

Departed Soles was founded by Brian Kulbacki. He and his best friend Chris had long dreamed of starting a brewery together, but both we’re holding down full time jobs, and dreams can get put on hold, sometimes forever…

But then Chris died in an auto accident, which explains Departed Soles name, and Brian committed to building a brewery that honored his friend and their dream.

Now the beer that everybody’s talking about…

Departed Soles recently released an IPA that’s become a viral sensation because its name commemorates the method the Astros used to cheat in their winning 2017 World Series run…The sign-stealing scandal rocked the baseball world during the offseason and lead to the firing of Astros manager A.J. Hinch and General Manager Jeff Luhnow.

At that time, the Astros would electronically steal the signs of the opposing team and the team’s players would bang on trash cans in the dugout to alert the batter as to what pitch was coming.

Which explains the beer’s unlikely name…

Trash Can Banger is a double-dry-hoped Galaxy and Strata fueled 5.4% India Pale Ale with a little milk sugar added to juice up its game.

Definitely not a gluten-free beer, Trash Can Banger IPA was crafted with 2017 grams of hops barrel to celebrate the year of the now infamous baseball scandal and comes in white, orange and yellow striped cans reminiscent of the distinctive “Tequila Sunrise” uniform worn by the Astros between 1975 and 1993.
