December is ON and American craft brewers are addressing the colder weather with exciting new beers you’re gonna want to have around.

Blizzard Warning (Hershey, PA) – Tröegs Independent Brewing has returned a popular winter seasonal that has been a mainstay of the brewery’s Hop Cycle IPA Series since its inception in 2014.

Built on a foundation of pilsner malt and wheat, and brimming with bracing bitterness, Tröegs Blizzard of Hops is 6.4% ABV India Pale Ale with bright spruce tips, pineapple, and orange rind notes thanks to a combination of Centennial, Chinook, and El Dorado hops.

“It’s a nod to hop growers around the world, thanking them for another successful harvest,” says Tröegs brewmaster and co-founding brother John Trogner. “In the winter, people’s taste buds deaden down and they tend to eat richer and fattier foods,” explains Trogner. “In my mind, there’s a need for bitterness on the beer side to balance that out.”

Cryo-Cosmic (Portland, OR) – Ecliptic Brewing has a new winter addition to the Cosmic Collaboration Series that they did with their friends at Baerlic Beer Co. Brewed with Pale and Pilsner malts and a variety of special trial hops from Yakima Chief Hops, Ecliptic + Baerlic Cryo Frozen Fresh Hop Double IPA is an 8% ABV India Pale Ale that combines the ground-breaking concept of frozen fresh hops and the innovative technology of Cryo ® Hops to pioneer a new way to brew fresh hop ales.

“I’m stoked to be working with Rik and Ben at Baerlic. They have been making super fun beers for many years,” said Ecliptic’s Owner and Brewmaster, John Harris. “We met up to discuss what to make and realized that we had all tried a certain beer recently and were loving the hop aromas. The beer used these new hops from YCH. So, the idea was to make a straight-ahead Double IPA, relishing in the citrus, tropical and dank aromas.”
