Summer is ON and the beer biz is addressing things with an always interesting roster of beers that pair brilliantly with the season.

Darkness, Darkness (San Diego, CA) – Forged in 1995, AleSmith Brewing has been recognized as one of the world’s foremost craft brewing companies. Their beers are always worth chasing down, and the Speedway Stout variations never disappoint. And  at the end of 2025 the award-winning brewery debuted a fun  variation of their iconic Imperial Coffee Stout that that’s still available online.

Aged for 12 months in rye whiskey barrels and blended with traditional Vietnamese coffee,  AleSmith Speedway Stout: Rye Vietnamese Coffee Edition is a massive 13.89%.ABV Imperial Stout that is blended with Vietnamese cà phê sữa đá (iced coffee with milk). The result is a chocolatey and bold tasting stout that perfectly complements the notes of oak, vanilla, and bourbon barrel in this massive barrel-aged stout, a true AleSmith legend.

AleSmith’s brilliant Speedway Stout variation is currently available online for direct shipping to California, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Minnesota, Texas, Illinois, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, and Virginia.

Grass Attack (Huntington Beach, CA) – BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse is an award-winning brewing operation that runs 217 in-house breweries nationwide. Founded in 1978 they release over 10 rotating seasonal beers annually that complement their 11 signature anchor craft styles. And their latest seasonal release is a classic.

Developed by Aaron Stueck, BJ’s R&D brewer at the company’s experimental brewery in Boulder, Colorado, BJ’s Grass Attack IPA is a 6.5% ABV IPA & pale ale hybrid that combines the bold, hop-forward character of an aggressive IPA with the crisp, smooth drinkability of a lager. Expect layers of grapefruit, lime and pineapple notes that are offset by herbal and grassy undertones that give this beer its name.

“We wanted to create a beer that could go the full 90 minutes and beyond,” said Alex Puchner, SVP of Brewing Operations for BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse. “Grass Attack brings together everything we love about Cold IPA—bold tropical hop character, crisp refreshment and smooth drinkability—making it the perfect beer whether you’re watching the matches or just enjoying summer with friends.”

Blinded By The Light (Munster, IN) –  Three Floyds Brewing, a brewery renowned for the big hoppy IPAs and bold Imperial Stouts is stepping “beyond the craft beer category” with a more traditional style of lager. Brewed with Indiana corn grits, and they do grow a lot of corn out that way, Floyd’s Deluxe 4.5%  ABV “lighter-style premium lager” that checks all the crisp, clean and refreshing boxes.
