Summer is ON and the beer biz is addressing things with an interesting roster of easy-drinking lagers that will pair brilliantly with the season.

Road Trip! (Hershey, PA) –  At the end of 2025 introduced a new “Pennsylvania Only” year-round that’s worth making a road trip for.

Inspired by the universal appeal of easy-drinking lagers brewed during the pre-Prohibition era, Tröegs Pennsylvania Lager is a 5% ABV American Lager  built on 100% malted barley with no filler. Using decoction mashing, open fermentation and a local heritage yeast the brewery has delivered a “clean easy-drinking lager for beer geeks and for those who just need a beer.”

“Lagers have been a huge part of our DNA since the beginning,” says Tröegs co-founding brother and brewmaster John Trogner. “Beers like Troegenator and Sunshine Pilsner really helped to build our brewery, and they continue to delight today.”

Like many of the family-owned brewery’s  beers, Pennsylvania Lager came up through Tröegs’ 3-barrel Research & Development brewhouse known as the Scratch Lab. “Our Scratch Lab is where we get to tinker with the latest flavors, ingredients, and brewing techniques,” Trogner added. “After seven different test batches, we landed on a final recipe everyone loved.”

Blinded By The Light (Munster, IN) –  Three Floyds Brewing, a brewery renowned for the big hoppy IPAs and bold Imperial Stouts is stepping “beyond the craft beer category” with a more traditional style of lager. Brewed with Indiana corn grits, and they do grow a lot of corn out that way,

Floyd’s Deluxe 4.5%  ABV “lighter-style premium lager” that checks all the crisp, clean and refreshing boxes.

“When we began to develop Floyds Deluxe, we weren’t making a craft lager – we were creating an American lighter-style lager,” said Cory Just, Three Floyds’ Marketing Director. “While that distinction might seem subtle, it’s a critical point of differentiation reflected in every aspect of this brand, including its packaging. Unlike our usual maximalist approach, this isn’t an intensely hopped-up brew. It’s a light, clean, and exceptionally well-crafted beer, carefully lagered for 8 weeks.”

Brewing For Tomorrow (Paso Robles, CA) – Firestone Walker Brewing has returned a terrific limited-batch spring seasonal release that represents the latest chapter in the brewery’s “Brewing for Tomorrow” sustainability initiative. Crafted with California-grown floor malted barley, Firestone Sunglider is a crisp, floral and refreshing 5% ABV Helles-Style Lager that honors the brewery’s commitment to both flavor and sustainability.

This beer is all about staying local.

The harvested barley underwent traditional floor malting at Admiral Maltings, located in Alamada on San Francisco Bay. Sunglider also features Willamette hops grown at Goschie Farms in Silverton, Oregon, the first-ever U.S. hop farm to receive Salmon-Safe certification.

As Firestone Walker Brewmaster, Matt Brynildson deftly put it  “Sunglider is a beer flavored beer, a modern nod to tradition, crafted with care and brewed with purpose. The closer you can source your raw materials, and the more you can support providers who do things the right way, the smaller the footprint of the resulting beer,”

Sunglider is rooted in Firestone Walker’s “Brewing for Tomorrow” initiative—an ongoing 360-degree effort to minimize the brewery’s carbon footprint and conserve natural resources, using both cutting-edge technologies and time-honored resourcefulness.
