Tavour, an industry leader in beer e-commerce recently sent us some summer beer cocktail suggestions to help us weather the heat.

And amazingly they didn’t suck.

They’re all made with serious offerings from Tavour’s more than 600 craft brewery partners, and we gotta admit that’s a smart place to start.

Prickly Pear Cider Shandy

A Shandy (also known interchangeably as a Radler) is traditionally a half beer (usually Lager) and half lemon-lime soda or lemonade, so we guess you could call it a cocktail.

And while Tavour suggested going with Vermont’s Citizen Cider, we opted to use Sapporo Pure, an exceptional 4% ABV Light Lager with only 90 calories and 2.4 carbs.

1 oz. prickly pear syrup

1 oz. lime juice

12 oz. lemon-lime soda

16 oz. of Light Lager

*Lime wedges optional

  1. Divide the Lager into two glasses (preferably pint glasses), then top with lemon-lime soda.
  2. Add the lime juice and prickly pear syrup. No need to stir!
  3. Garnish each glass with a lime wedge or wheel if desired, and you’re all set to beat the heat!

 S’mores Stout Shake

This beer cocktail’s flavors are perfect for those crisper summer nights, or any evening when you’re looking for a sippable drink with some heft.

While you can use any creamy, chocolatey Milk Stout for this recipe, Pipeworks Brewing’s 10.5% ABV Fluffo Sando Imperial Stout adds a peanut butter twist and natural vanilla flavor that’s kinda fun.

3 generous scoops of vanilla ice cream

6 graham crackers

16 oz. of Milk Stout (1 can of Pipeworks Fluffo Sando)

Marshmallow fluff

*Chocolate chips / chunks, plus additional graham crackers optional

Preparation

  1. Pour the beer in a glass and set aside.
  2. Add the ice cream and cocoa powder to a blender. Crumble up the graham crackers and add those, as well. Add two spoonfuls of marshmallow fluff and blend until ingredients are evenly distributed.
  3. Pour in half the beer and blend for 20 seconds. Then, add the rest of the beer and another spoonful of marshmallow fluff. Bend until mostly smooth (there may be some small chunks of graham cracker, and that’s okay).
  4. Divide into glasses, and if desired, top with more marshmallow fluff (or whipped cream), chocolate chips, and graham crackers. Time for s’mores!
