Mastodon

Last year Mastodon, possibly heavy metal’s most passionate beer fans, teamed up with Denmark’s Mikkeller Brewing for a collaboration that the Atlanta-based band championed. Well it turns out they were far from done.

And three years before that the band joined forces with Mikkeller’s WarPigs brewpub and released “Mastodon Mother Puncher” a compelling farmhouse IPA with an unforgettable name.

Mastodon’s latest collaboration with Mikkeller Ancient Kingdom seem almost tame given the band and the brewery’s history…And according to the WarPigs  it’s “a modern twist on a German classic, super crushable and clocking in at just under 5%.”

Here’s what Mastodon’s drummer Brann Dailor has to say about the brew….

“Couldn’t be more excited to be collaborating once again with one of our favorite and internationally revered breweries Mikkeller. Ancient Kingdom is the perfect name for this beautifully brewed Czech Pilsner. We hope to swill a few with you on our European tour this winter, or on the beach this summer! Breach the walls of the ancient Kingdom and discover the bountiful riches hidden inside.”

“We love collaborating with Mikkeller because we feel like we’re cut from the same cloth. Mikkeller is always being incredibly creative and pushing the boundaries in the beer world and that’s what we try to do with our music. ”mastodon, Mikkeller And Heavy Metal Mavens Mastodon Collaborate Again

And Mikkeller’s Mikkel Borg Bjergsø had good things to say about the project…

“Our third collaboration with Mastodon is possibly going to be the best one so far,” agrees “Not only did we agree on my favorite beer style at the moment, but the label and packaging came out amazing, and Brann and the guys named the beer after what I think is one of the top songs off of Emperor Of Sand.

We always have a great time working with Mastodon, and we look forward to catching up with them early next year when they return to Europe.

And now the bad news…Ancient Kingdom is currently only available in Europe
