Labor Day Weekend is ON and American craft brewers are addressing things with intriguing new beers you’re gonna want to have around.
Labor Day Ready (Boonville, CA) – Anderson Valley Brewing, a Northern California brewery renowned for its standout ales, introduced a lager last year that’s a perfect Labor Day beer. Lagered for an almost unheard-of sixty days Anderson Valley’s modestly named The Pilsner is a flavorful and complex, 5.2% ABV German-Style Pilsner with a soft, crisp, clean, and delicious character.
“The Pilsner pilot batch was one of the most beautiful, delicious beers I have tasted in a long time,” said AVBC President Kevin McGee. “When the brewing team came up with the idea to brew a German Pilsner, my initial reaction was why do we want to do a Pilsner? They’re temperamental and difficult to brew really well, take a lot of time, and tie up a lot of equipment. But then I tasted the first batch the team made and the ‘why’ became really clear.”
Hey Pumpkin (Bucks County, PA) – Neshaminy Creek Brewing is an award-winning craft brewery and taproom located just north of Philadelphia in Croydon, PA. And they’ve just returned a unique fall seasonal that takes the Pumpkin Beer concept in an interesting direction. Brewed with bright pumpkin spices and classic German hops, Neshaminy Creek Young Pumpkinstein is a medium-bodied 5.2% ABV Märzen-Style Lager with a toasty malt character and an uber-dry finish.
“Pumpkin beers have become a standard now for every brewery so we thought why not make ours unique and exciting?” said Neshaminy Creek Head Brewer, Jason Ranck. “I could finish a whole sleeve of ginger snaps in one sitting so I’m not mad about making a beer that tastes like them.”
Big News! (London, UK/ Normal IL) – With more craft breweries than ever before, brewing serious non-alcoholic beer, ACB has expanded its coverage to include new NA beers that matter. And Big Drop Brewing a UK headquartered non-alcoholic brewery that also contact brews its beers for the US at the Destihl Brewery in Illinois, matters.
Judged Best NA Pale Ale by America’s Test Kitchen, Big Drop Pine Trail Pale is an award-winning buzz-free Pale Ale with a limey citrus bite on the palate and a balanced but obvious bitterness to finish.
