Michigan’s Jolly Pumpkin has always marched to their own distinct drum. They were brewing sour beers back when few craft beer fans even knew what they were…Their beer label art has been hauntingly different and beautiful as well.
And with Halloween now upon us it’s the right time to celebrate the art of Adam Forman.
Adam Forman describes himself as a ‘gentleman artist’ and he’s has been designing Jolly Pumpkin’s fantastical beer labels ever since the brewery launched in 2004.
His artwork is a trippy gothic mashup of artists like Toulouse-Lautrec, writers like Lewis Carrol, graphic comic masters like Watchman’s Dave Gibbons and Foreman’s own neo-romantic vision. Not surprising for someone who’s also worked on films in Hollywood (and delved into tattoo art).
Almost everything’s he’s designed for Jolly Pumpkin is ‘museum quality,’ as far as we’re concerned. And here are 5 labels that struck us as particularly ‘All Hallows Eve’ appropriate…..Enjoy!
Jolly Pumpkin’s Sour Pumpkin label is one of Adam Forman’s best!
Jolly Pumpkin’s collaboration With Monkish brewing…another classic.
We especially like the quote etched on the blood-filled chalice.
Brooding cat, sour red ale and full moon…perfect
Adam Forman’s Sobre Humano label goes full-on metal!
