If You Need A Lyft On Halloween, Widmer Brothers Has The Beer

Portland’s Widmer Brothers is introducing what may be a Halloween first and given that “All Hallows Eve” can be a party, it’s a terrific idea.

Here’s the deal…

beer, If You Need A Lyft On Halloween, Widmer Brothers Has The BeerWidmer Brothers Brewery partnered with the ride-hailing giant Lyft to craft a limited-edition 16-ounce beer that comes with a unique promo code printed on the can that will give drinkers up to 50 percent off a ride home.

“Closing Time IPA” is a 4.7% ABV session IPA. Widmer Brothers brewed it with experimental cold-pressed hops and hibiscus flowers, which give the limited edition India Pale Ale a soft pink hue reminiscent of Lyft’s signature logo…

And it’s evidently a VERY limited release…

In a press release Widmer Brothers explains that they only brewed 75 cases of “Closing Time IPA” and are making them available at select bars around Portland that we expect will let you leave their fine establishments with empty beer cans in hand because you’re going to need them if you want a Lyft home.

Widmer Brothers Innovation Brewmaster Thomas Bleigh was positively gushy about the beer and the opportunity to partner with the ‘on-demand’ transportation service…

“We are thrilled about this partnership to create a unique product that also promotes drinking beer responsibly…Session IPAs are among the most popular craft beer styles in the Pacific Northwest, so we thought it would be great to put one in a package that comes with a safe ride home.”beer, If You Need A Lyft On Halloween, Widmer Brothers Has The Beer

Making this fun deal even better is Widmer Brothers and Lyft’s commitment to donate one dollar from every can sold at the event to the Oregon chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).

Again, a very decent 16oz small-batch IPA that will save you up to 50 percent on your next Lyft ride home doesn’t suck. And for that reason alone we expect that this VERY limited release, which debuts in Portland this week, will disappear fast.

So probably the best way to ensure that you get your hands on this Halloween-friendly IPA is to join the Widmer Brothers and Lyft crew or a special Closing Time IPA launch party in Portland, later this week.
