Heineken Acquires Brixton Brewery In London

, Heineken Acquires Brixton Brewery In LondonLaunched in 2013 by two UK couples who loved craft beer as much as they do their South London neighborhood, the Brixton Brewery sold a minority stake in its operation to Heineken in 2017.

And now Heineken has taken full ownership of the South London brewery.

According to the Brixton Brewery, the company, which has strong roots in the Brixton community, has built a solid relationship with the Dutch multi-national brewer over the past three years…

OUR NEXT CHAPTER

When we look back over the past seven years, we honestly can’t believe how far we’ve come – from homebrewing to launching a small brewery, to building a highly recognizable community-based brand, with a larger new brewery and taproom. It makes us want to dream even bigger for the next seven.

To realize our original vision of helping thirsty people everywhere get a taste of Brixton, we’re today announcing that, following a successful three years’ working with the global brewers, Heineken, we are expanding this partnership in a deal that will see Heineken fully acquire Brixton Brewery.

Over the past three years of working together, we’ve built a strong relationship with Heineken, who share our commitment to quality and responsibility. We have benefited from the Heineken team’s expertise and market reach, and we want to build on it.

There’s no denying the fact that the next few years will be challenging for many reasons, so we’re happy to have the opportunity to secure the future of Brixton Brewery for our team, our families, our community and fans of our beers, who’ve been hugely supportive of our success.

The industry has changed massively since we started, and we want nothing more than to continue to be a positive part of it.

This will mean a bright future for our community-based business. The founders of Brixton Brewery will continue to lead the brewery’s day-to-day operations and strategic and creative direction.

We want to thank everyone who has supported us so far. We are both humble and proud to be a local success story made in Brixton.

Love,

Team BB

Under the new agreement the founders of Brixton Brewery will continue to lead the brewery’s day-to-day operations as well as its strategic and creative direction.

In 2018 Heineken acquired a minority stake in a much larger London brewer, Beavertown Brewery, a deal that generated a huge social media uproar in the UK.

According to the Drinks Business, the 40 million pounds ($52.44 million US) that Beavertown received as part of this deal went to helping fund the construction of Beaverworld, a 450,000 hectoliter facility in London that will increase its brewing capacity tenfold.
