Although many in the craft beer community dismiss Goose Island (now owned by AB InBev) as no longer being ‘craft beer,’ their annual Bourbon County Brand release still generates a great deal of buzz.

And Goose Island Prop Days is a lottery that gives fans a chance  to take home the Chicagoland-only Proprietor’s Bourbon County Stout as well as first access to this year’s variants.

That lottery is ON and will be thru 12am October 12 (Central Time) and you can enter HERE.

This from Goose Island…

Back in 1992, Chicagoans were the first drinkers to give a dark, viscous, imperial stout aged, in Bourbon barrels, a try. With craft beer in its infancy, it was Chicagoans that welcomed this innovative, barrel-aged stout with open minds and eager palates. That stout, of course, was Bourbon County Brand Stout; the first beer to be aged in a Bourbon barrel.

Traditionally, Bourbon County Stout is released only on Black Friday. But, as a thank you to our most loyal fans, we started Prop Day; a tradition that has given our most diehard fans a chance to get the first taste of all our upcoming variants as well as the opportunity to be the first to take home Proprietor’s Bourbon County Stout.

We still want to put our beloved beers in the hands of our most devoted fans, this year will be different. With everyone’s safety in mind, we are shifting to curbside pick-up only. Lottery winners will check in and pick up their allocation without leaving their vehicle.

We will miss bringing everyone together outside of our brewery and can’t wait to raise a glass with you all again.

Road Trip!

And according to Goose Island this year’s Proprietor’s release was inspired by third-generation Italian American brewer Emily Kosmal’s love of spumoni, the classic Italian dessert…

“Blended with fresh pistachios, cacao nibs, candied Amarena cherries, and natural vanilla flavors, the 2020 Proprietor’s Bourbon County Stout is incredibly complex and layered with cocoa, nut, and dark fruit notes with hints of vanilla and oak. Emily, who also created the concept for 2016 Proprietor’s, is our first brewer to have two Proprietor’s concepts picked for release.”

Lottery winners will get to pick up this allotment for their $130.

  • 2 bottles of 2020 Proprietor’s Bourbon County Stout
  • 1 bottle of 2020 Bourbon County Stout Special #4
  • 1 bottle of 2020 Prop Days Exclusive BA Stout
  • 1 Prop Days 2020 commemorative snifter

And with COVID-19 still lurking around, Goose Island will be implementing its first-ever, multi-day drive-thru Proprietor’s Day pickup at the city’s United Center, home to the Chicago Blackhawks, and now also home to one of the world’s most collectable beers.
